Why be a member of the IMA World Fellowship's New US Chapter?

1. Career Advancement - The IMA WF helps coordinate medical missions to Israel by arranging visits at medical institutions and organizing presentations by leaders in the medical field.
2. Research - Joint research projects with Israeli medical experts can be coordinated through the IMA WF.
3. Help Israel's Medical Needs - Membership offers individual physicians an opportunity to contribute to Israel's growing medical provider shortage, and to the progress of medicine in Israel.
4. Grants - IMA branches allocate part of their membership fees as grants enabling physicians to come to Israel to participate in fellowship programs. Branches will also raise funds to send Israeli physicians abroad for fellowship programs.
5. Coordination of Exchange Programs/Fellowship Visits to Israel - Physicians visiting will be guided by the IMA WF through the temporary license procedure, locating a medical institution and lodging.
6. Professional and Social Networking - The IMA will serve as a channel for making connections with Israeli physicians in all fields, for social and professional purposes.
7. Support for Communities - The IMA WF will serve as a clearinghouse of humanitarian missions and supporting Jewish communities in need.
8. Discounts and Program Updates - Members will be constantly updated about IMA programs and activities, such as upcoming conferences, via the newsletter "IMA Around the Globe" and the IMA website. Members will also receive discounts to certain conferences.
9. Military and Medical Alerts - Members will be alerted to attacks on Israel in the medical press, and will receive assistance in combating anti-Israel sentiment and advocating for Israel and Israeli medicine.

Directly Contribute to Israel's Critical Medical Needs

• You will receive first hand information about how to directly contribute to medical challenges in Israel, such as the American Physicians Fellowship fund that has erected a shelter in the Israeli city of Sderot, which experienced 800 rockets in the surrounding area, in the first two months of 2008, killing 13 and injuring thousands. IMA members contributed to a shelter that is now protecting school children and their families, and further contributions from future members will provide medical assistance for the injured.
